Locket (song)

I listen to my heart

It sets all things apart

It tells me what to do

It brought me straight to you

And when the world departs

and people fall apart

we’ll take em by the hand

and make em understand

And when the world is through

we got nothin else to do

we’ll seep into the stars

and shine as far as mars

oh the leaves, the leaves fall of the trees

oh the wishes, the prayers down on their knees

oh the things we said, but never do

keep running back, keeping coming back

to you

I listen to my heart

it tells me lots of things

sometimes it feels real bad

and makes me wish i had

But when i turn away

Still listenin to what it has to say

i know right straight away

bout how to make you stay

Oh the leaves, the leaves fall of the trees

Oh the wishes, the prayers down on their knees

Oh the things, we said but never do

keep running back, keep coming back

to you

Chuga Chuga (song)

My heart is beating like a freight train

i keep asking for more pain

i’ll take your pocket rocket and throw it on the floor

i won’t be coming round here asking anymore

Please take me back the shore

My heart is beating like a freight train

they keep dealing me more and more and more pain

i tell em i’m ready to settle their score

they won’t be nailing me to the same old grown no more

coz i’m running back my shore

don’t be comin round here and rainin on my parade

don’t be comin round here tellin me what’s made

don’t be comin round here asking me what for

don’t be comin round here anymore

My heart was beating like a freight train

till iu jumped off to take away my pain

i smacked both my feet upon the ground

now i’ll fly own way all around

coz i’ve gotten back to my shore

Now your heart is beating like a freight train

and i’ve come here to take away your pain

i put my hand in yours coz i’ve what you saw

i wont let you bleed or fall to the floor

coz we are running back to our shore

Think Act Change : Consuming Less in time of excess

Wow. My First Think Act Change event certainly was interesting and got me thinking, and hella inspired to keep making those changes.

I wanted to share my thoughts coming from i guess from the mindful angle.

We are aware we’d like to make a change or underway already, this is what I’d deem a conscious action. I think what’s happened is because we live in such a high intensity society we have forgotten how to think, or more like we think too much about anything and everything, and we’re trying to multitask so we’ve got it all now jumbled up. Till suddenly we fine we’re running after ourselves, we don’t know our own voice, we’ve lost touch with our conscious. We don’t think we have ‘time’. So – i’d like to say ( i never thought i’d say this) let’s think more like the ‘WORM’ he he, take it slower. Then maybe we will get some more conscious decisions and less blind reactions (which big business is thriving upon-and our planet, which includes ourselves is copping the bat). We’re taught to want uniformity, words like ‘convenience’, ‘comfortable’, and ‘secure’. These are promoted but act like personal barriers for change. We solve problems with problems rather than confronting our issues, because of the fear that has been generated. We are over complicate things. Get back to grass roots. We are human beings, each and everyone of us, has the power to inflict change in our reality.
But how do we go about it? How do we get ourselves, or others to change? Especially in our society which is hard pressed on ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ so that things have become blurred. Who should we listen to ? I think the answer is US, ourselves, and that golden goal of happiness we keep investing just out of reach? You can find it right here, within yourself, whenever you want to.
So what makes you motivated? I think yes, raising awareness and being informed can dilute ignorance, but to make someone change their daily engrained routine? We need to get people involved. In action. One you are creatively participating in something you are seeing it evolve in your own hands. This is empowerment. And so thought changes from i SHOULD (which is almost always met with passive resistance), to i WANT. Living in a world that constantly tells us what is to be done and does it for us, on both sides of the coin, can lead to reliance, thoughtlessness, and just plain laziness. Once we are all participating we can lead ourselves into a revolution in mindfulness.

At the movies (still drafting)

I have this recurring thought. I’m sitting in a movie theatre. It’s this really old one I used to go to that was edged between an art deco milkshake parlor and a snazzed up pizzeria in the town I was born. It had this long, narrow, corridor, with padded walls, and soft plaid carpet matching the colour of the night sky outside. As the glass doors opened in front of you’d roll down its gradient till you felt a tingling of anticipation coz you were about to see each and every movie that was going to come out. You’d run up and glue yourself across the wall like a child gone mad with u-hu, marveling at all the plastered posters, lit up in (high pitched OHH) ‘godly’, polystyrene light. Here you’d have long winded conversations about; infamous actors, directors, and movie reviewers. Arguing why, certain ones were inferior, intellectually lacking, or just-a down right shame to be missed.

There’d rarely be a line. So, you’d arrive at the counter… pretty much straight away. Here you’d meet the same little old lady. The one that you could never get passed. She’d always be there, standing, ready, poised, like some kind of hawk, scoping her prey, from her now monstrous ticket booth. Of course she’d have a prepubescent teen working for her, (said at side of the mouth ‘on minimum wage’). That she’d flicker poisonous glances towards until the poor bugger would flinch. And this would go on right before our bloody eyes, at the same time she was serving, she was a slippery one. Sometimes this boys whole body would be quiver with unease, freeze up for a moment, and you’d think shit, is he still breathing? Then snap back up, and he’d continue laboring away as if nothing had happened. Except now he appeared as if he had a pole shoved up his ass and was zipping about the place in a much more regimented, up-tempo fashion. Of course we all know he was only sacrificing the same kind of situation at home. A–ll, for the price of a few underage drinks, yeh! (sarcasm).

As it was a ‘private’ joint she made sure of the fact that she had to ask. And with a stern, crinkled face, she’d crow ‘student I.D. please’ . I’d frown back at her, whilst picking at my faded, and now out-of-date uni card. All the while my mind was wandering on one thing, and one thing only …popcorn. I silently begged for it. Harboring away a ten foot tonne boombox in my head, with its play and record button stuck down repeating the god damn plea over and over ‘Please! look, I don’t care what you do, make me pay full price if you like, but can you PLEASE… give me some warm popcorn?!jjjjjj (rewind) repeat’. I’d keep trying even though i knew the outcome was hopeless. It was always stale.

Small and cramped the theatre seemed empty. So, with no one there to tell me otherwise, I pranced about the place as if my pants were on fire and gallivanted my way to be smack bang in the middle of it. Which is basically near to the front but not so close that you snap your neck back. I’m sure that’s gotta hurt.

The red curtains are drawn …dododododoododdoooo oh, I almost forgot, 20th century fox plays before hand, as per usual, following a lo—-ng li—-ne of ads…Ads make me feel so tired! Not surprisingly a down-slide takes hostage to my face, who I can now see (as I seem to have strangely retained my retina’s) has wound up naked on the floor. Rocking back and forth in the fetal position like a child. I make sure to scold him because I’m mad at the fact that he almost made me miss the most enchanted of moments. You know it? no? Oh well its this magical part where the 20th century fox literally jumps out of the screen, and plays the trumpet live!

Anyway, after all that jazz finishes up the lights dim out. And the ‘official’ action begins…. And I’m somewhat astounded at what I see….I mean, it’s me. Its me up there going through life as per normal with not a care in the world (clears throat) well, not aware of a care in the world, plain serene.  And I’m transfixed, you know, I’m not sure what to do. I mean, it doesn’t make sense, does it? You looking at you. And then my mind is interrupted by a blunt blatant COUGH. And I turn back to look at me and think… ‘Fuck off!’ Behind me a popcorn box hides a familiar face, and I think, oh- my- god!… I’ve got to get out of this place! And we’re both frightened by fright you know with wide-open gaped screams ‘AH!’ ‘AH’ we yell, like that leave Britney alone girl ‘get the fuck outta my dreams!’.

And now I’m running out of the theatre with great balls of fire, wind blowing a rush, with hind legs flicking, and a head swinging a yoyo and teeth chattering to a toothbrush. My brain is convulsing with the buzzed migraine it now is, and because of its aggrandizement, its now decides- it thinks, twiddles it thumbs, and, mis-hears. It’s like king kong, running wild, with a big gong, singing at the top his lungs  ‘hi ho, hi, ho it’s off to work we go!’ then smashing two high hats together, and, laughs!

‘Excuse me!’ I cough again, but this time its mine. ‘I’m trying to make sense of things!’…

I slowly spell out into the darkness… a… b …c…  till i have words… that all surround me…and i think, by gorge, if they’re gonna stand around me, looking like that, staring straight down at me, I’m gonna have to ask;

So I take an old school mic and swing it in my glance.

‘You mean to tell me…it’s me, up there? And me, back there as well?’

I grab a bystanding number by the throat, (who appears from absolutely nowhere), and I begin to growl, like, some kind of mistreated dog, god knows for what reason.

‘Grrrr’ -i growl. ‘What is this thing?’ barking back i blubber with unease.

‘It can’t be real’ I say, shaking my head and attempting to make my lips vibrate ‘dis-mis-sal, dis-mis-al, dis-mis…’ Ugh, it doesn’t fucking work.

I let go (of the number 9, poor bugger, and my ridiculous upheaval). I slip….ah!, it was a banana peel. I stand, like a deer in the headlights, or… ah much better, a frozen icey-pop in a slot! Yes! And then I-I, I raise my mechanical arm to sing, DING! (Dong the witch is dead!) NO! not to sing god damn it to proclaim! (emphatic arm gesture) and I proclaim …‘it must be a dream!’.

But it’s a reoccurring thing you know, and it doesn’t just happen when I’m asleep. I mean, it happens when I’m awake too and I think, for fuck sake, can’t you just leave me be? I mean what am I supposed to do? With me me, and me. If there’s three me’s here then there could be infinite too. The possibilities are endless I could be living in a shoe. And then how do we make up? Wake up?  Tap our foots in the same time? Sing the same tune? Or play in a pantomime? I’m not quiet sure right now but it doesn’t seem ….right, perhaps, I’ve forgotten the line, or, I’m sorry, I’ve… given up on the fight?  I ponder (but only for an ultrasecond). Coz I don’t know the rhyme, I can’t sing it in time, and a fire burns out, and a phone rings, a clock chimes. BONG!… I mean, how am I supposed to think? I hear yells coming from the distance and everything got to reek.

‘Do you know the score?’ Great terrible red eyes beam, from the corner to the left of me, they peer out, from a massacred sweatshops last seam. And i think, could this get any worse? …I guess I could be whimpering cold and wet on someone else’s floor, soaked in urine, weed and booze, glass and cum from the night before, stressing, ‘What the fuck am i gonna do?! This is- so embarrassing, i don’t even own my own SHOE!’.

So, keeping with this fashion, i scream back, as if i the ‘need’ the distress ‘No, not me, I’m dreadfully poor!’ But the problem is, I’m not. I’m standing there in a shoulder padded dress, made by Gucci AND Dior. And when I cry out, now, because I’m aware of it, my voice sounds so minute. And I look down at my body and I gasp (GASP) I’ve been vaporized to the size of a newt! Now, mmm, if my calculations are correct..I must be..ahh yes wedged between a glass sliding door, and a balcony full of glorious sun. Deck chairs and aristocats are outside strutting their stuff, with bikini’s, having fantabulous fun. But no, not me I’m stuck here, like before, wishing it could be, but just knocking at the door. Maybe i should, you know, shape up to the bastard, let him know it’s he that’s won. Yeh, that sounds good, I’ll just open my mouth and surrender. Right after I spend a few more minutes carefully selecting the right words…you, you…and, y-o-u jjjjj Waa?’ I did all that for them to be sucked up and churned in a blender? ‘Not the score goddamn it the time!’ the voice chimes back, perfectly rhymed. ‘I’m a clock don’t you know… open your tired eyes and see, get back on the show, stop looking at me!’ Regardless of his instructions, like a naughty school child i can’t resist and i climb right up into that corner and glue my eyes like a clenched fist. I finally see, he’s only here trying to help, he’s not a bastard at all. So i get out my pen, notepad, and paper as if i’m getting ready for a test To harvest hard heeled facts, but he doesn’t appear, the red eyes seemed to have disappeared, now that i see past them he lends me no ear. but the facts are out of sight even with my binoculars i’m putting up a fight.

‘But… but… I’m confused’ I sigh, so, miserably. I try to explain  ‘I didn’t even know you were there’. And my eyes would fall to floor, but then there’s a faint tinkle of feet, at the edge of my eyebrow hair. The clock has appeared, so my words aren’t in vain. With his little metal feet, and silver lining, he’s come to take away my pain. He puts his hands on his belly because before they were manically waving about. And then all stops to a stand still, still, I’m not sure what it’s about.

You see, it all made no sense to me, like algebra galore, a mixed tune, or a pus-y red sore. So I closed my eyes to make a wish… ‘I wish it to be plain and simple, like chickpeas…and… potatoes!’ (prayer)… Nothing. I sit down on a chair which then slumps to the ground. I’m like a cloud filled sky drifting back to where it was found. I hear the sound of traffic and BING BANG, big ZOOM! As if all the worries in the world were being sucked into a vacuum. A television sighed, masked fighters Syrians lied, Facebook whistled a tune, eighteen small children face down to the moon.

And my pen crossed out and re-wrote again and again. Till it menaced me, and built up, like a skyscrapers den. With chipmunks clubbed to death by a nutcracker caged hen, with DOO! DOO!  lost youth rave in ‘heaven!’, with goats BabaBAAAHING fucking up mary’s black sheep! with millions with no parking, staring at computers that have no sleep! AHh! I shout out like a crazy women i now am. Till my arms are pinned back by authorities… and i’m screaming ‘It’s a scam!’… but little do I know, these donkeys, are my ray of hope. And i lay down my bearings and jump over their skipping rope.

Everything goes black, like I’ve sunk down into the deep pupils of my mind but the irises aren’t rising. I see my tent grow legs, then run down the slop to shout back at me ‘so long sucker, your on your own!’.  I stumble through the darkness howling ‘OO!’…’OO!’…’OO! How will I ever find my way without a light?! I’ll be stuck in this darkness forever ! My days will be lost to night!’ I hear a loud electrical fuse, as if someone had turned on a great big industrial lighting board, then…Silence… me, and a white screen… Not static, not light, just clear, blank, white. And I think. And as I think, my thoughts appear, in the silent space, in front of me.

Why do I feel crazy and it’s called normal?

And when I’m called crazy I feel sublime?

Why can’t I feel like this all of the time?

I get Alan Cummings on the phone, or that guy from My Fair Lady down the line. They both say ‘your eating too much, don’t you know that it’s shit (which sounds really strange from their lips), you’ll make yourself sick, take one plate at a time’. No oil, no salt is planted on a road sign. I hold onto it for a moment then I’m swept into Yesterdays Ocean. And  I’m tumbled dried so fast, I wish I hadn’t spoken. The whole world is swimming, at my front door.me.  So it’s obvious, I’ve gotta go out, see what I’m looking for. There’s a rubber ducky waiting for me with a blow mattress for a floor. ‘Did it just rain?’ I ask, i need a piss, i can’t hold it anymore. I look down and i’ve got a maraca in my hand, with an aching wrist of… bliss?! And suddenly i see, I  I’m in a spaceship flying out of this abyss. Up into the night the sky, through the cosmos, and down on the moon. If I can get rid of this fat controller, i’ll throw away his keys, and misfortune. Get back to living again, peel the Velcro from the floor, push back the strands that fall across my face, pull my hands from against the wall.

And the prospect of weeing again is just too good to refuse. So I put my arms  down close to its edge, and jump into its blues.

I fall onto a lined page inside the cover of a book.  And here I decide to take a walk for a while, clear my mind, have a look. I get to a spot that’s so beautiful, and beckoning in its page. It’s easy enough to answer its yearning, stop turning, and admit its gaze. I sit myself down on an iron stone bench. I breathe in my surroundings, with a class book in clench. It was like I’d finally found that tranquility I’d needed and painted it from my mind. I was at my airport checkout, but I’d left everything behind. Everything went still, and I could hear the winds rushing once more. The sun was on my back, and I just knew what I was fighting for. I opened the book in front of me and held it preciously in my hands. And suddenly my toes were wriggling, my feet were sinking in beach sands. I was running so fast into my own homes ocean with a surfboard to break my fall. And just as I hit the cold hard waters and heard the crashing waves uproar… I turned back to look at me with a cheeky smile i grinned. And who’d of thought I’d happen to see two audience members still pinned. In an old movie theatre, they looked up at me and now they too both saw. That life is just a dream waiting to be, we won’t keep denying anymore.

Chocolate!

I stole chocolate. Not just any chocolate. High priced, quality chocolate. I’d intended to do a skip but I tried one store and got a ‘lo siendo’. Realizing everything (well, not everything) wouldn’t be shutting till the wee hours of the morning, ok, I’m over exaggerating, wouldn’t be shutting till later that night… coz I mean, goodies? sat night? they gotta be on a roll. I decided to give it up and go.

Ramblas was torture. People left right and center shuffling along at a snails pace. And if you weren’t stuck in this line of site you were holding on for your dear life as youths weaved in and out of each other barging through like there’s no tomorrow. Eventually, thank god, they’d run into something, or someone, and look back with embarrassed eyes. Ashamed of themselves, coz they kept on running into walls after numerous belittling warnings.

I was looking for an accordion, but a shop sign said ‘chocolate’. It was closed, but it still did its job. The accordion search wasn’t going so well. All the shops I was after were closed or closing and only the bling punk rock stores remained. So, chocolate, hmmm, yes. Maybe I could find some big corporate supermarket and make my steal there. I looked round and searched… nothing. Just small Paki run seven elevens with refrigerator lights and security watchdogs. Those guys are well on alert. Standing around doing absolutely nothing, staring into blankness, and working all sorts of hours. They’d have to be puffed up on something.  I’m sure they get people making passes at them all day long. So with that, all my options dissipated into nothing oozing sorrowfulness onto the dirty used floor. No, no, I mumbled. I’d be too nervous from the get go. So I decided to leave and stumbled my way back to the train station… however, half way to my goal, smack bang in the middle of the mess, a ‘buzz’ appeared. Palettes of people were waving in of it and I was getting sucked into its uplifting atmosphere. Suddenly like an eggbeater I was whisked through what can only be described as… the edge of something channeling. I let myself slink off its precipice into the riding blue wave that bumped and ground until I popped out like a corkscrew in a wine bottle. POP! I regained my bearings and took a look around to see where in the world I’d ended up. Glorious, it was heaven; if it wasn’t heaven it was heaven here on earth. A yuppies food market. Woo! what good deeds brought me here? Who knows but i could thank my lucky stars coz by now, things seemed to be looking up. And take a wild guess what was staring back at me. Chocolate! Lots and lots, and lots of it. Truffles, roches, liqueurs full house and the wagon. And the people, they were just so busy! Scooping and scooping little bite sized pebbles and wrapping them up into shiny plastic pieces. The workers were toiling and toiling away with not a minute to lose not even to wipe their sweating foreheads. I could see they were running the same old rat race. What we all now call: Groundhog Day.  So without a quick second thought I made action… SCOOP! One truffle had heard my call and reached out and touched my hand. Wow. It was so easy. I just couldn’t stop at that. I wanted to bring something back, bigger and better for everyone to share. Eleven people in a self-sustaining household deserve some chocolate too. So, I kept on walking determined to lift my game plan. I had to sharpen my skills, get know what know what I was knowing until another truffle appeared erasing itself by feasting on my eyeballs. Only this time, it was a tinsy bit bigger. ‘yum yum yum yum’ I chanted like the human voice of a pacman shuffling my feet and edging closer and closer to the guy in front of me so that I was so close that I was breathing down his neck. SCOOP! I had a touchdown! (Vivacious applause) And with growing confidence I was making moves with the hands some kind of hero from a kung fu film, or hip hop slam show. Now I was onto transferring the goodies. They moved down the line and I was a smooth operator fixing them into my elusive factory made pocket. Ok, so I had two truffles, that’s enough for me but still not enough to share. I wanted to fry bigger fish. I made a loop round to scope my territory. I had options. There were at least two more chocolate stores in close vicinity that I hadn’t even hit. The first had a big mamma standing hawk position bustling about within its chocolate and nutty glory. The second had big blocks just standing there in the middle of nowhere waiting on its edges screaming like neglected children moaning to be picked. I nearly took one immediately but then stopped myself, paused for a moment and pondered… no… no…I’m just not ready… It was still too big a fix. I was Loco. I twirled around and kept the rhythm in my pace and soon I was back to where the big ol mamma was except this time I could through see through her nutty goodness. I fancied my eyes on a cookie and waited till she was occupied. The store was sad as she had a lot to do so it didn’t take time for me to blend in with the prospective customers. I leaned over and…SCOOP! One big cocoa sized cookie melting in my hands ‘AH AH’ I cacked, with the slight of hint of devilishness. I’m sure one of the by be gones saw me but nope, not one of them dared to budge. I made my move so quickly that my little legs skedaddled across the floor like a sketch out of a loony tunes clip. ‘Phew’ I sweated. I’m back outta trouble, here in the safety of the fruit and veg. I grabbed my breath and tried to stabilize, body poised and mind at ease as if I was manning the high board in a diving championship. Straight ahead of me were the blocks (chocolate blocks that is, if your following my story). I made sure to embrace normality manning my poise and owning my strut. I looked up only in the second of time when I passed through the doors, and the woman was busy serving WEE!!! (inward excitement) I can…SCOOP! And just like that, again but now I’d got a whole damn block. Man, that must have been so expensive, I thought. I quickly shoved it under my jumper and tried to look like a real pro. It didn’t last long as I felt like a phony from the beginning. So I grabbed it back out of the place and slipped it into my bag the same way as if I’d purchased it. As I re-run the scene over in mind I met disbelief. It was just so simple. I walked in, picked it up, walked out. I didn’t have to reach down, jump over or around, duck dive, or slander. There was no mission impossible and I didn’t have to play the damsel in distress. Just SCOOP and I was on my way. Unbelievable. You couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. I was beaming like Buddha himself had sat down beneath a tree and become enlightened behind my eyes  exploding beams of light all around me. I rolled around in my truffly goodness, which twisted and turned between my fingers. And when I went to eat, I even stopped, maintaining my abstinence. Better wait till I’m fully out of arms way, I lectured and back on the street, I played.

In amongst the junction I took the satisfaction of devouring my first treat, on the train platform I nibbled away on my second, and on the way home I couldn’t help but laugh at all the brown stains over my clothes. I was covered in cocoa. A clear culprit and nobody knew. The master of perception he he he he. Just think, how would I have denied it? ‘No sir that’s not chocolate, I’ve got shit on my hands!’ It wasn’t until I got home that I came to question my actions. Hmmm, I wasn’t sure. Was I right wrong, good or bad? Who knows? I’d hoped to steal from a big fat corporation but this place, well; they could have been working for themselves. I dismissed this thought as its sting went into my belly. They were definitely making a killing with the chocolate, and one truffle here and there wouldn’t cause them too much grief. I left my indifference intact and went to set it aside beside me. But just as I was about to lay it down it lurched out and took hold of me. How was I to explain it all!? What would I say?! What would they think?! I didn’t want to boast about it and come across a tool but at the same time I didn’t want to be ashamed of what I’d done. Then I remembered Eloi’s words ‘you’ve got to be proud about what you do’. I didn’t feel ashamed or proud just happy. I got the chocolate and I was able to provide. Come to think of it, I think I felt proud, ashamed, happy, I think I felt it all and how can you put that into words? I couldn’t lie and say that I’d found it somewhere else and I couldn’t not share it all hide away scoffing it down myself. That would definitely be all wrong. I was mixed up like a salad bowl with no dressing. And in this state I had to do something. I had to make amends. So I did what I could only do, set myself an expectation I could break. Pledged myself that I wouldn’t bring it up. And if it happened to be addressed, I’d say something random, vague about the Ramblas.

I finish my writing and look up to see a bunch of chocolates shuffling in a little boy’s hand. He plays with them for a little while then shoves them back into his mother’s shopping bag. We have something I common. What with the swing rides and running around after chocolate I must be becoming more and more like a child. Is this a bad thing? I don’t know, but when you look up to see a train guard right in front of you with a muzzled dog with black beady eyes no wonder a dart of concern shoots through you into the veins of our blood. Does he know? Does he smell the chocolate? These thoughts come and go like the stars, usually so fast to barely notice. And the next time I look around I see a great big group of girls, dressed up, and each carrying a designer shopping bag. I’m reminded again of why it is the way it is. As I turn to face the girl sitting next to me (whom earlier spent careful minutes patiently painting her face) her wearisome eyes tell me that we are just the same. With bright red lips and perked curled eyelashes she stares out into the darkness. Desperately trying to fit in.

Le Champs de Ronce

Just after considering giving it all up and jumping the first plane home

I find myself standing in the middle of a ‘wow’ moment

Sun rays ever pouring through the leaves of the nearby tree into what some would call a religious symbol.

A hexagon of Tao or a star of David?

They’d shout proclamations to the sky then argue with deep furrowed brows.

Who knows? But it is miraculous.

The garden bed below appears to be magical in the light with mist seeping upwards like evergreen vines climbing the trees and  fairy dust seeping out of its pours.

My fingers and toes are tingling with delight.

And though my bowel movements are not so well I’m elevated, almost enlightened at the time.

We are making a poor attempt at a fire.

But this seems to add to the experience as the smoke gathers its ammunition  to take flight.

Weaving through the rays like a Chinese dragon.

Jenny doesn’t want to hear the news today coz its ‘too much stress’

I say ‘nothin’ will happen and there’ll just be music’

We turn on the radio and pause…

We can’t find the station.

All we pick up is some beautiful classical music.

A cello sawing a melancholic tune,

And a piano tinkering away at its chords.

We stand their like flowers photosynthesizing in the light.

The pigment of shade plays shadows of doubt on our faces and hints that really,

just within arms reach,

there’s a whole new world, dancing around us.

Ode to Le Zad (songpoem)

Le Zad fell on my plate

Le Zad never leaves me on a date

Le Zad is never late

Le Zad is obsulate

I fly up up up into an orange peeled sky

And when I dream I fall, into soft pillowy beds, with warm arms around me

I cry a thousand tears and then those tears they fall like dreams, and turn into streams, that travel through mountains, and come to rest in great beds, of joy.

I fall like a soaring plane plummeting into an apple tree.

And then i fly once more.

I fly, so high I almost touch the sky

Can I get my feet back on the ground?

Please tell me I’ve forgotten why

We pass, all beauty in the world

Running after things that never last

failing to see what’s in our grasp (beat)

Babylon (part 2)

Babylon= fat attack

My face looks like a tomato

I stand in front of a mirror and stare

Down into it, disdainfully

Babylon= Fat attack I think

Though it never seemed to bother me before

A park in the dark (songpoem)

what do we know we keep looking out the window

what do we see we see life passing by

what do we do when life ain’t so simple

what do we care we go round and round again

we go round and round my friend…

The door is left open.

She’s strung out on the floor

We haven’t yet spoken

Still my confidence feels broken like a wine glass ‘taxi!’ once more

we’ve got tobacco with no papers

no house above our feet

and a whistle calls out in the darkness but I’m not sure…it sounds like… it sounds like… its stuck, on repeat

should I answer it? and what should I call back to its call? From my place, on this sand stained floor.

I decide to leave it to the hawkers, let them grovel on their knees.

And though the cold it doesn’t grate me

I need no blanket at my feet.

And the world it doesn’t hate me.

still my cough sings on…

what do we know we keep looking out the window

what do we see we see life passing by

what do we do when life ain’t so simple

what do we care we go round and round again

we go round and round my friend…

Her voice floats gently above the music

Sails through the didgeridoo breeze

And a walkie talkie shoutsout ‘warning! warning!’

Policeman trivialities

There’s a palace that’s obstructed by an artificial light

A typical apartment

Our hope omits the fight

what do we know we keep looking out the window

what do we see we see life passing by

what do we do when life ain’t so simple

what do we care we go round and round again

we go round and round my friend

END OF THE WORLD (unfinished)

I pull back the curtain of my sleeping bag blanket to see a grey hazy sky.

Birds cross to and fro with black silhouettes that dart ecstatically

I play with them for a moment trying to guess where they come from or which way they’re going.

When we tire of these things I let my gaze slip down, down to the perimeters of my boarding.

A grafitti blessed stone.

The wall of a derelict building.

Other buldings are in view, so I can only judge… that I’m on top, on top, of a rooftop!

I’m so elevated that i soak in the city sights like the tea that kisses my lips every morning.

Perched like some kind of sailor, balancing a great scope with heavy arms now light  at the sign of dry land up ahead.

Buildings, people, art float by as if I haven’t as yet woken.

On the far left hand corner of my screen I notice a tiny detail that emerges within the chaos.

It operates in a way that is so calculated it somehow appears unsure of itself.

I watch its movements curiously.

Soon a great big arm of galvanized metal looms before me.

Its fingers crushed into its very own puss yellow claw.

Its whole structure and being oozes bubbling oil as if it had just escaped from the fiery depths of hell,

taken a short cut which bypassed earths sewage system whereby it found a most appetizing pitt stop…

feasting directly below McDonalds.

As I lean forward in anticipation its image becomes skewed and I’m almost sure its wavering, that there’s a bending force interrupting its initial focus.

I pinch myself an ask ‘is this real?’

Quietly I mutter ‘metal can’t bend like that and what is the ghastly thing doing up here?’

Almost immediately on cue the head of a man appears.

The head seems to be in relation with what can only be called ‘it’.

‘Oh no’ I cry and let out a yelp.

I try to gulp down to make myself scarce but fail miserably.

I’m naked in my surroundings.

And the two lifeforms turn to spot me.

The man (who can be described as): blank faced and asleep

The ‘thing: robotically twisted.

Fix me to the spot.

All I can do is watch my fate unfurl.

They seem to be pondering something.

I remain still but inside my mind jumps around frantically.

Banging and bruising itself against my scalp.

Squeezing its brainy gizzards at the alternative solutions till its on the very brink of implosion.

POW!!

It collapses like a drunken mess on the floor.

It whines well known phrases like ‘ahhh ahhh…what’s going to happen next?’

Next?

Well, out of nowhere a helicopter falls into the sky and hovers in the thick white haze around us.

Its wasp like tail bleeps a red flashing light.

A scrawning voice soon is amplified and booms a list of instructions:

‘freeze, drop your weapons, anything you say can be held against you in a court of…’

Police?

I sigh.

Somehow I don’t feel at ease.

I mean freeze? Drop your weapons? Anything you say can blah blah blah.

We are frozen.

None of us have weapons, unless you consider ourselves as weapons…

and neither of us have spoken a word.

I’m not sure that ‘thing’ can speak a word (muttered/whispered at side of mouth).
